Introducing the Cafe Note Pocket Edition!

This newest edition of the Cafe Note is slightly smaller than an iPhone 8 Plus, making in a great companion and EDC for your back pocket, backpack, briefcase or purse. It has 256 pages (128 leaves) and each page measures 92x155mm and is about the same size as our Takahashi Techo No. 102, which was in fact the inspiration! Please see the pictures for a size comparison to various objects.

The tough water-resistant vinyl cover has a leather-like grain and actually feels quite luxurious. Two bookmarks, a back pocket and a pen loop are included.

We hope you like this new addition to our family of Cafe series. It's perfect for on-the-go note taking, when all other options are too large, too flimsy and just not as cool.

  1. Cafe Note Pocket Edition 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Mar 2020

A pocket notebook, the same size as my iPhone, with 256 pages of Tomoe River 52gsm paper, a durable cover, 2 ribbons and a back pocket...I mean seriously, does it get any better for a pocket notebook? Ok, let's pick a very fine point, the 3.7mm grid is a little on the tight size for my handwriting, but that is all I can even mildly complain about. This is the Seven Seas of pocket notebooks, buh-bye Field Notes!

  2. Perfect size for an every day carry! 5 Star Review

I Love Tomeo River Paper! All three sizes of the cafe note are perfect! This one is so easy to carry with me. It’s compact and protected with its cover, but also can go in my personal sized travelers notebooks. The pen loop is secure and perfect to hold your pen even in a pocket. I use fountain pens and watercolors and this paper embraces it all. No bleed through. I am so glad to have a source for this great little book! Thank you for this design!

  3. Favourite pocket notebook 5 Star Review

I've bought these notebooks before and I loved them so much that I'm stocking up. Great size, good quality cover with a useful pocket, and an unobtrusive grid.

(Tip for pesky fraying marker ribbons: Sugru. You can easily stick on little end-stops, and the weight keeps them in place, too. If you're really artistic, which I'm not, you could even make them look like tiny netsuke...)

  4. Good size for pocket; not too thick but lots of pages 5 Star Review

Lots to like about the notebook:

    -nice flexible but durable cover
    -two page markers
-thin. high-quality paper that takes ink well
    -pen loop

I tend to like the way Rhodia paper works with my wet Pelikan, but that is just a personal preference. I have no problem writing on both sides of the sheets, though, and the thinner notebook is a big plus for portability.

Great for just keeping in my bag/purse. etc. Also fits nicely in my Signature size TN. Will continue purchasing these.

  6. perfect size 5 Star Review

So I own a B6 slim and decided to order the pocket to see how it would work, and I have to say I love the size. I was a bit concerned it would be too small but it’s perfect, especially for my purse. I’m still holding out for an A6 though . Fingers crossed they’ll be in stock soon.

  9. They keep getting better! 5 Star Review

At first I was a bit bummed that Nanami Paper refocused their efforts on developing notebooks, but at this point I couldn't be happier about the change. It's awesome to have a company consistently developing such thoughtful products. I've owned a variety of their notebooks (Writer, Studio Note, Cafe B6, Cafe A6, and now Cafe Note Pocket) and I love finding all of the little touches and improvements added to each version.

The Cafe Note Pocket is perfectly sized for pocket use and has an appropriately sturdy & flexible cover as well. Add to that the pen loop, dual bookmarks, and back pocket (my favorite feature!), and you have a notebook that is perfectly tailored to its intended use.

  10. Pocket Productivity 5 Star Review

I've used both the Cafe Note A6 and B6 in my past,
and I'm about a month in, a quarter of the way through my first Cafe Note. This is a notebook every bit as useful as the other two, at a smaller size.

The cover has so far stood up to back-pocketing, bag-pocketing and a water spill on the table. Still looks neat! The paper is feather-free and bleed-proof, as Tomoe River paper is, always. The page count means the book will last at least 3-4 months, for me, remarkable for a book this portable.

I band it together with the Takahashi No. 102 planner, also sold here at Nanami, so what I have is a pocket-size office! If I have any caveats it's the ribbons, which are useful but feathering heavily -- by contrast, the Takahashi ribbons, about 8 months into a full year of use, have stayed neat.

I complement this Pocket with a full-size notebook that largely lives on my desk, at home (look forward to an A4 "Desk Note," BTW..). Thoughts start wherever I am, and grow from there. Cafe Note Pocket is a great book to have wherever I am.
