Takahashi Techo No. 102 Planner 2019

Although the Hobonichi Techo planner has become a bit of a global sensation, it is but a tiny fraction of the planner market in Japan. A lot of people find the page-per-day format too much for their needs, and with 365 days per year, sometimes too thick.

For my own use, I've spent hours in stationery and department stores studying all the variations from all the companies (Nolte, Pilot, Takahashi, Midori, Marks, Tsubame, Life, etc.) and even tried several of them over the years - but I keep coming back to this Takahashi No. 102. So I finally decided to make it available here at nanamipaper.com.

Takahashi Books is one of the most well-known planner brands in Japan. Nearly every stationery shop, larger or small, will have at least a few versions. The mega stores like Maruzen and Itoya carry the entire line, which requires a big display by itself.

This No. 102 has a clean, simple line-by-line layout for all views. It also has a habit tracker, which is a rare find in a planner. Size-wise it's a perfect companion for the Cafe Note B6. Thus, if you're interested in a planner for planning and a notebook for note-taking, the Takahashi 102 and Cafe Note B6 is an ideal combination.

The paper, which is a proprietary formula used only by Takahashi (yes, they are THAT big), is also very very good. For fountain pens, it's not quite as robust as Tomoe River, but if you have the type of job or life where things are constantly in flux, you probably use a pencil or Frixion pen anyway. Plus the paper is a bit thicker than Tomoe River and lends itself well to constant writing, erasing and re-writing. This is, in short, a serious tool for little else but planning, and here at nanamipaper.com, we like serious tools.

  1. Perfect ‘On the Go’ Planner 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Jan 2019

I bought this on a whim and absolutely love it. Actually it will replace my Hobonichi Weeks next year. It’s a great size, really slim yet has everything I could possibly need. I can see myself getting one every year. Great recommendation and I’m thrilled with it. Yearly overview, Monthly overview, weekly planner with notes, habit tracker, address book - what more could you ask for in such a neat little book? Love it!
