Loading... Please wait...Nanami's Cafe Note in "B6 Slim" has arrived! This is the 7mm Rule version. This one is bound with Sanzen Tomoe River paper.
Sometimes it is available on Amazon Prime.
Many fans of the A5-size SSW (Seven Seas Writer) have found it a bit too large for everyday carry - indeed, lugging it in a briefcase, purse or tote can be tiresome over the length of a long walk or commute on the subway, and it seems to make sense to use it mainly in an office or studio setting.
But what if relaxing, people-watching, doodling, or creating your latest masterpiece in the warm, convenient atmosphere of your favorite cafe is daily necessity?
To that end, we've created this "Cafe" -sized version of the Seven Seas Writer, with the standard "shinsho"* book dimensions of 110x176mm (about 4x7 inches) and 384 pages.
The result is a much slimmer format that's half the weight of the A5 SSW (216 grams vs 426 grams) and 3mm thinner (12mm vs. 15mm). The impression is that it's much more portable, far less bulky, and easier to carry. And, compared to the larger A5-series books, the cover is a bit thinner, more flexible and thus easier to fan through the pages.
But wait, there's more! Since the shipping weight is 360 grams or 12.9 ounces, a single book can be shipped via USPS First Class mail (under 15oz), which can be nearly half the cost (depending on where you want it delivered) than Priority Mail!
Specifications
- 110x176mm
- 384 pages (192 leaves)
- Coated-paper cover
- White Tomoe River 52gsm paper
- 7mm light gray rule
- Comes with pink blotter sheet
* "Shinsho" is the 2nd most popular** book size in Japan, also known as "Slim B6". Shinsho books are primarily non-fiction.
** "Bunko", or A6, is the most popular size - mainly used for fiction. The Hobonichi Techo is A6-size.
The Shinsho and Bunko sizes were created for rail commuters that spend a lot of time standing in trains and hanging out in cafes between trains or after work.

I knew that Tomoe River Paper is, quite honestly, the best. However, I have yet to find a notebook that actually did the paper justice...until now. The Nanami lined B6 slim is simply beautiful. The cover is sturdy and clean, the binding is simply wonderful, and carrying it is like carrying a cloud. I love it. I am not one to really like lined paper, but i took a chance and it paid off.I love this notebook.

Pros:
1) Very good ‘one book’ option. I used it for over 2 months as a planner and journal — a personal record.
2) Easy to see grid on light colored paper. Cafe Notes paper is a lighter shade than Hobo Weeks paper;
3) Quality of paper, it’s easy to write on and it’s a workhorse. (I use a ballpoint pen with Uni JetStream ink [SXR-600-05].)
Cons:
1) Small grid scale. One can feel the effort of writing on a small scale after long entries. I’m looking forward to trying the ‘lined’ Cafe Notes edition.
2) Dark colored cover can transfer to light colored notebook covers.

So pleased with this ruled notebook! It lies flat when open for writing on its so smooth paper. My fountain pens and inks love this paper. The size is so handy for my bookbag, the lighter weight is appreciated. The line spacing is great for my scribbling and jotting down notes that are not cramped. What would be cool is if the lines were blue, but that is a personal preference. These B6 Slim Ruled notebooks are wonderful!

Nanami paper has been the gold standard for notebooks for years, and this B6 slim size is no let down. It's the perfect size for a small bag or a solo carry, and it's the exact same quality we've all come to expect from the A5 size books.
This is the lined version, which is nice because it is double-ruled 3.5mm, which is common in grid rulings. It is a comfortable size for a lined notebook.
On the notebook itself - it's the best money can buy. Don't be fooled by and of the other 52 gsm Tomoe River notebooks, as I have tried them all. The stitched binding is the real deal. You can crease it and fold it to your heart's content along the spine, and the notebook lies flat from the very first page. The notebook is incredibly durable as a result, and with a cheap cover, it won't sustain any wear whatsoever while you fill it up. Show through/ ghosting is overstated by the people who take issue with it. Bleedthrough is nonexistent. Simply the best!

I’ve just recently discovered the B6 Slim size and I have to say that I think I finally found THEE size. This notebook is so well-made. The lay-flat binding is a must as well as the infamous Tomoe River paper (if you’re not familiar Tomoe paper is super smooth and thin). The lines aren’t too close together nor are they too far apart. Now, I just wish they had the grid version in stock!

I’ve been a fan of Nanami Paper for years now, when I saw the B6 slim was available I ordered several for friends and family. The smooth paper allows you to write at ease with any type of pen. I myself use fountain pens and it’s quite lovely, I recommend this notebook to everyone. My only wish is that B6 regular size comes to existence sometime in the future.

I got this to use as my 2020 Journal. The paper is the TR Paper so it's very lightweight so I can carry this around without any bulk. The lines are spaced enough for me where I can write comfortably. I definitely recommend and I will be buying these to use as my future journals. I would note if you get one do get the plastic cover. I didn't but will be ordering one the next time I order cause I carry it in my handbag and the corner got bent :(
