This is the listing for the translucent green soft mat. It is flexible and has a matte finish.
A writing mat goes under the paper you are writing on and enhances the pen- or pencil-to-surface connection. Mats, or "underlay mats", are very popular in Japan, where penmanship is still part of their rigorous educational system.
You can also use a writing mat as an extension of the end of a page in a thick notebook so that your palm always has a place to rest.
Made in Japan.
Actual size is slightly larger than ISO size. Exact measurement is 155x215.

Having purchased the Nanami Paper Seven Seas "Writer" journal - I figured I would purchase a writing mat, I have always wanted one. I purchased both the hard & the soft mat. I much prefer the soft mat - I think it can be easier on the tip of your writing utensil & I find the soft mat more pleasurable. I also think that it "grips" the page better so it doesn't move as much - which is important with Tomoe River paper.
The soft green mat is smooth, soft (but durable), and grips the page. This is really worth 10 stars & better than the hard one (in my opinion).

The soft green mats adds so much to writing in my Journal and Study notebooks. I can almost watch my soul flow onto the paper. Thank you for making these available.

The price is cheap but the quality is very high! Is a japanese product and is a high quality product that will last for a lot of time. Worth more than tag price! Ideal when you work with Tomoe River paper! I use it in my other notebooks too!

I ordered this soft green mat, as well as the hard clear one, to see which one I preferred, since the prices were very reasonable. So far, they both seem like great products, but I already prefer this softer mat.
I'm very impressed by the careful packaging and fast shipping. My order shipped out on the same day I placed it -- a Saturday! (Received my order on Tuesday, since we're both in California.) Great service!

Love using the soft green mat when I’m journaling. It provides a smooth consistent surface without me leaving imprints on the page underneath the one I’m writing on. The color of the mat is a soothing green color. I’m also highly impressed with Nanami Paper quick service: I ordered on a Sunday and it was shipped that same day, and I received it the following Wednesday in the mail. Will order from Nanami Papers again, hopefully in the near future.

I love the clear hard writing mats but these soft green writing mats are very useful as well. I like to use these under thicker paper when I am writing. I definitely would advise using the hard mat under thinner paper (Hobonichi) but if your here you might as well get both. You will not regret it.

I bought one of thees soft green writing boards to go with my Crossfield journal a year ago. This board is flexible and soft, with one side being smooth and the other with a slight bit of texture. I have used other writings boards (like Traveler's Company, for example) and can say that this is my favorite by far. The difference is that while it gives a firm surface to write upon, it also allows a bit of "give" so the nib of your pen (hopefully a fountain pen!) glides across the paper, allowing for variations depending upon the flexibility of one's nib (it is akin to writing on a leather-topped desk or blotter). I'm contemplating getting a large one for my desk and then cutting one down to fit my TN...

I got this green, soft mat along with the clear, hard one. They're both great products. This green mat has a slight grip to it so that paper does not slide around on it. Despite the gripping texture, writing over this is super-smooth. How did they do that? Another great feature of this mat is that it is thin enough to go nearly all the way to the edge of the paper when you place it underneath a page of a Seven Seas journal. Between the two mats, this is my preferred one to use unless I'm tracing over something.

I ordered a similar product from another company awhile back and just wasn't 100% happy with it. Someone on a board referred me here and I am so happy they did. Just what I was looking for. Soft enough without being "squishy" and makes writing even more of a pleasure. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
